9 Things You Need To Do Before Writing Post UTME Exams

Here are a few tips to guide student sitting for the 2019 JAMB Utme

it is expected that if you are planning to partake in the forthcoming exams, you should be almost done preparing. If you are about to take the forthcoming exams, you need to go through this list to ensure that you are indeed ready for the 2019/2020 Post-UTME examinations.

1.Prepare your documents- Before you go in for the screening, ensure you have your:

  • SSCE Result- This can be WAEC, GCE, or NECO. Some schools ask for the original copy. If you sat for GCE, you can get your original copy at the nearest WAEC office. However, if you sat for NECO or WAEC, you will need to get yours at the school you wrote the exams in. For GCE candidates, you will need to go with a print-out version of your result before the original will be released.
  • Declaration of Local Government and State of Origin Document- This document proves that you are indeed from the local government you claimed to be from. You will need to obtain this from your local government council.
  • Passport photograph- Some schools have various requirements for the kind of background they want in your passport. UNIBEN, for example, requires a passport with a red background.
  • Guarantor or reference letter- This is a letter in which someone vouches that you are of good conduct. Usually, schools ask for a civil servant with not less than a Grade 10 level.
  • Birth Certificate or Declaration of age- This is a document that proves your age
  • Original Jamb Result- This is the Jamb print-out slip with your result and photo on it
  • Jamb Bio Data- This is the first print out that includes all the information about your jamb examination.

2.  Realize that the easiest way to pass is to read- A lot of scammers go around promising students to upgrade their Post-UTME score. In the end, the make away with your money, leaving you at the losing end.

3. Know the form’s price- Realize that almost all schools charge N2,000 for the forms to avoid being cheated.

4. Check out all your school’s requirements- To avoid getting into a rush hour, check out your school’s requirements before time.

5. Get information- The easiest and safest way to do this is to find someone who has gained admission into your preferred school recently. The person will be able to give you some helpful pointers and so, you will be able to know what to expect.

6. Find out your budget- As of now, schools are still selling post UTME forms. This is the perfect time for you to go ahead and find out the total amount of money you may need to spend. This includes school fees, admission form, acceptance fee, accommodation, as well as other things. Doing this will give you a head start.

7. Keep your head up- As schools operate independently, you will need to follow them to be able to gain information about what they do and when they do it. Frequently check your school’s website in order to keep up with any latest news.

8. Visit your school- Try as much as possible to visit your school before the post UTME and even after. This will enable you to get familiar with your surroundings. One common problem fresher’s face has to do with the fact that they do not know anywhere. Try to overcome that problem. You can seek out someone to give you a tour of the school grounds.

9. Keep calm- Lastly, keep calm. Over-worrying or obsessing won’t make your admission any easier to get. A steady mind always makes better decisions than a stressed one. Realize that your scores will gain you admission and not your over-thinking. Keep calm. Your entry experience will definitely be a memorable one.

Former unilag lecturer sentence to 21 years imprisonment for rapping admission seeker

According to Justice Josephine Oyefeso of an Ikeja High Court has reportedly sentenced a former University of Lagos UNILAG part time lecture with the identity Akin Baruwa, to 21 years imprisonment for rapping admission seekers.

News also gathererd that the married man and father of twe was arraigned before the court by the police after the victim, a daughter of his friend, filed a report. The prosecution told the court that Baruwa raped the girl on July 23, 2015, in Room 8 at the Faculty of Business Administration, Annex building, UNILAG when she came to seek admission into the institution.

Also again, While delivering judgement in the one count of rape filed against him, the presiding judge, Justice Oyefeso, said the prosecution proved its case beyond reasonable doubt.

The offence committed against this young lady was a violation of her chastity which would have left huge emotional scars from which I pray and hope she will recover. I cannot begin to imagine the physical and mental trauma she has had to endure from the man who she considered her father’s friend, a community leader who should have known better. This is a shame.

This is a crime that not only offends the survivor, it offends her family, it offends the society at large, it also offends God. I find you Baruwa Afeez Akin guilty of a one-count charge of rape contrary to Section 258(1) of the Criminal Law of Lagos, 2011, and I hereby convict you accordingly.

In line with Section 258 of the Criminal Law of Lagos, 2011, Baruwa Afeez Akin is hereby sentenced to 21 years’ imprisonment.” she ruled

Reason Why thousand will miss 2020 UTME- JAMB

This maybe the reason why some 2020 Unified tertiary student will miss out of the 2020 JAMB test  as

Thousands of registered candidates across 38 centres in 11 states of the federation may be denied the opportunity to participate in this year’s Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, an official has said.

This is because some of the Computer Based Test centres’ operators defaulted by disobeying the rules governing the registration of candidates as provided by JAMB.

The affected states are Akwa-Ibom, Anambra, Bayelsa, Delta, Katsina, Kwara, Lagos, Nassarawa, Ondo, Oyo, Rivers.

The JAMB registrar, Ishaq Oloyede, who disclosed this at the examination body’s headquarters in Abuja, also “handed over” the 38 operators to the police for further investigation.

According to the registrar, “the operators illegally moved their registration facilities outside their allocated locations”.

The registrar explained that Virtual Private Network(VPN) access is issued to each registered CBT centre “but the board gathered that some of the approved centres went ahead to grant third-party access to cyber-cafés and business centres operators against the board’s directive.”

Suspects speak

During the ‘interrogation’ done by the registrar, Phillip Agene from A-pagen Consolidated Limited in Port Harcourt confessed he registered his staff under a fictitious name and National Identity Number in order for him to monitor the activities of his employees.

Also, Mustapha Shehu, from Dialogue Computer Centre, Katsina State said there was a robbery case in his office on January 19.

”Maybe the people who robbed my office did it, we have reported the case to the police,” he said.

The JAMB registrar said an investigation should be conducted to ascertain when the infractions occurred and compare it with the date the robbery took place.

JAMB may shift ground

Following the alleged crime committed by the centres, there are strong indications that the examination body may reconsider its stance on the exclusion of the candidates from the examination.

Responding to questions from journalists on the presumed innocence of the likely affected candidates, the registrar said the board will look in the matter.

“We will look into the matter but they should not register again because they will cause a problem for themselves,” he said.

He, however, insisted that some of the candidates had intentionally registered in the affected centre.

”An average Nigeria parent does not want their wards to queue not knowing the damage they are causing. We have the list of accredited centres in our state offices and on the internet too,” he said.

He warned parents and candidates that are yet to register to desist from patronising fraudulent centres.

The 2020 UTME registration commenced on January 13 and will end on February 17, 2020.

The mock registration, which started on January 13 will end on February 1, 2020. According to JAMB, 704,395 candidates registered for the examination as at January 27.
